Order Enough the First Time

Tile breaks. Pieces need to be cut. Some layouts create more waste than others, and natural materials may have pieces you don't want to use in prominent areas.

Always account for overage, and save a few pieces after installation for possible future repairs. Dye lots, stone lots, and handmade batches can vary, so ordering more later isn't always a perfect solution.

Installation Matters Just as Much as the Tile

A beautiful, expensive tile can look disappointing if the installation isn't well planned. An inexpensive tile can look incredibly custom when it is.

Layout, starting points, cuts, grout lines, niches, corners, and transitions all matter. These little details are why so much planning happens before the first tile ever goes on the wall.

Go In With a Plan, Not an Exact Answer

You don't need to know the exact tile you want before you walk into a showroom.

Know your general palette, where you want visual interest, how much maintenance you're comfortable with, and what other materials the tile needs to work with. There are thousands of beautiful tiles out there. The goal isn't to find the prettiest one. It's to find the one that makes the most sense for your room.
